Get Trained in Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Mental Health First Aid Trainings

CAPS provides Mental Health First Aid training for Higher Education at no cost to you or your department*. Individuals who wish to participate must commit to two hours of self-paced coursework followed by six and a half hours of instructor-led training. The initial self-paced course is provided through an online learning management system while the six and a half hours of training will occur in-person. In order to provide adequate support for the students and maintain the efficacy of the course, a course led by one Instructor will be limited to 15 participants and a course lead by two co-Instructors will be limited to 30 participants.

*Mental Health First Aid is valued at $175 per participant.
