If You're New to CAPS or Want to Schedule As-Needed Counseling,
Schedule an Urgent Care Counseling & Consultation Appointment
Please note that you need to be in Arizona to be seen at CAPS (even for Zoom visits). Our Care Coordinators can help you find support where you are if needed. You can schedule a Resource & Referral appointment with a Care Coordinator online or by phone.

Here's How CAPS Appointments Work
We Offer In-Person and Zoom Appointments
CAPS visits are available over Zoom or at one of our two locations. Private Zoom meeting spaces are available for reservation. Please call CAPS at 520-621-3334 to learn more about your meeting location options.
There Will Be A Little Paperwork
Before your first appointment: Check in about 30 minutes early to complete paperwork.
Before follow-up appointments: Give yourself about 5-10 minutes to complete a pre-session questionnaire.
If you (or your student) are less than 18 years old, follow these instructions for students who are minors
Insurance Is Helpful but Not Required
You will need a copy of your health insurance card or a screenshot from your insurer's website to complete initial paperwork. You can be seen at CAPS without insurance. Find out more about fees and insurance at CAPS.
If you are in need of financial assistance for our services, let us know. You can talk with your CAPS provider or call 520-621-3334 for more information.
What Happens With Your Counselor
During your Counseling & Consultation Session (urgent care), you'll meet with a counselor for about 45 minutes. During that time, you and your counselor will:
- focus on your specific goals and needs for that time
- go over strategies you can use outside of the session
- create a Custom Care Plan together
Your Care Plan may include a combination of another Counseling & Consultation Session on an as-needed basis, on-demand tools and self-care strategies, individual counseling, groups and workshops, and/or psychiatry.
Sometimes The Best Plan Is Outside of CAPS
Sometimes, the best plan for a student involves other University resources or off-campus services. This can happen for a number of reasons, like insurance needs, the kind of services a student is looking for, or what would be the best match for a student's concerns and goals. When that's the case, we'll help you identify people to call to get started. Meet with a care coordinator for a free Resource & Referral appointment or talk with your CAPS provider about your options.
