Professional Interests
I have been in the field of social work for sixteen years, and through this internship I can further develop my clinical skills. I am interested in Emotionally Focused therapy, family systems work, Motivational Interviewing, Mindful Meditation, Cognitive Behavioral Approaches, crisis support, grief and loss, survivor support, and anxiety reduction. Ultimately, I want to ensure everyone I support feels seen and heard and has a genuine therapeutic encounter. I want to empower clients to be the experts in their own capabilities and build skills to cope with challenging emotions and circumstances.
Personal Interests
I enjoy thrifting, reading, losing time in bookshops, listening to podcasts, attending concerts, trying new restaurants, traveling, seeing friends and family, and enjoying life as a Mama to my little ones.
Dream Job
As a second-year graduate student, my job interests cover a broad spectrum! I have worked in early development and postpartum care for 6 years, one ideal position would be providing Child-Parent Psychotherapy for mothers and their newborns. As a U of A alumni, this is an ideal position, to be back on campus supporting students during a unique time of dynamic systems and identity development. Lastly, my aspirations include serving on community boards and giving back to city that raised me.
