Message from Dr. Amy Athey, Chief Wellness Officer

Dear Wildcats,

Now, more than ever, we are challenged to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to support our community’s health and wellness. In 2018, The University of Arizona recognized the need to support the health and wellness needs of our students through numerous Strategic Plan Initiatives.  In an effort to evolve and optimize these initiatives to meet the needs of our community, the Health and Wellness Initiatives unit was born under the Dean of Students office in May 2020.

Our aims are clear.  We seek to develop a holistic vision of major health and wellness efforts on campus.  I am honored to serve as Chief Wellness Officer in organizing the Health and Wellness Board, an interdisciplinary team of institutional experts tasked with developing a health and wellness strategic plan. We are also excited to cultivate research, professional training opportunities and development support for these foundational initiatives.

We care passionately about seeking innovative solutions to optimizing wellness for our Wildcat Family.  The research is clear – one cannot perform if not well. We look forward to partnering with you as we advance our health and wellness programs and services.

Bear Down!

Amy Athey, Psy.D.

Associate Vice Provost/Chief Wellness Officer
